My maths task was about working out what the missing angles are and creating a poster. My highlight of this task was everything because it wasn’t hard and it wasn’t time consuming. I’m gonna work on getting my work up to date.

My maths task was about drawing lines of symmetry through shapes and order of symmetry. My highlight of this task was probably the lines of symmetry because it was quite easy and it didn’t take up much time. My lowlight of the task was the transformation because it was hard and I deleted it. I’m gonna work on the transformation next time.

My maths task was about making nets and choosing nets that make up a cube and what doesn’t. My highlight for this task was creating one because it was easy. My lowlight about this task was choosing which net makes up a cube. The reason why it is my lowlight was because it was hard and it hurted my brain a little.

Fast Rust Task
Task
Work on this Doc together with a partner.
What 3 ingredients are needed for rust to occur.
Iron | Water | Oxygen from the air |
Write a brief paragraph explaining the rusting process (why rusting occurs)
Rusting occurs when oxygen from the air mixes with water. The surface of the iron reacts with the oxygen mixing in the water. Which forms iron oxide. When the iron oxide reacts with the water, it forms hydrated iron oxide. It forms red stuff which we call rust. The process continues until all the iron is eaten up, that is called corrosion. |
How could you prevent something from rusting?
You can prevent something from rotting by putting layers of paint or putting it distant from water. |
Write 3 sentences explaining something new you’ve learned from this reading.
I’ve learnt that salt water makes iron rust even faster. I’ve also learnt that the Harbour bridge has 3 layers of paint to prevent it from rusting since it’s near salt water. The paint on the Harbour bridge lasts for at least 4 years! I have also learnt that iron can rust faster or slower depending on its surroundings and environment. |
Write down any new words you found in Fast Rust or the article about rust. Make sure you learn what the word means and write down a definition you understand for each new word.
Word | Definition |
Corrosion | A breakdown of materials due to a chemical action like rusting. |
Compound | Two or more elements combining together. |
Alloy | A metal/iron mixed with another element to make the metal stronger or unaffected to corrosion. |
Carbon | Carbon is a chemical element with the symbol C. It is non metallic and it has the combining power of an element of 4. |
Corrode | To be eaten by a chemical reaction. |
Rate | How quickly something happens. Mostly about speed. |
Silhouette | Outlines or Shadows. |
Iron oxide | Iron oxide are compounds composed of iron and oxygen. Rust is a common name for a very common compound, Iron oxide. |
Element | A chemical made up of one atom. |
Exposed | Something that’s uncovered or unprotected |
